Welcome! اهلا وسهلا مرحبا بكم

Thanks for dropping by. We hope you’ll like this website devoted to Egyptian Railways. This not the official site: if you want the official Egyptian National Railways website please click the link now.

*** On 14th August 2013, ENR suspended the running of all air-conditioned trains and nearly all other scheduled services by order of the security authorities. A limited number of trains began operating between Cairo and Lower Egypt on 22nd October in conjunction with enhanced security at station and on trains. The initial timetable is here. The number of trains is planned to increase to near-normal levels ‘soon’.

How many people outside Egypt even know about the vast and thriving Egyptian railway network? This is a knowledge and community site that aims to increase awareness and provide a central ‘hub’ for this historic diverse railway, as well as sharing some great products and as much unpublished material as we can find. If you can supply some more, we’ll be delighted to hear from you. Just get in touch (full credit given of course).

We welcome your constructive comments and suggestions. If you want to contact us, please do use the form. In addition, if you would like to sell something on here, just get in touch and we’ll set up the appropriate links to display your product in the Shop (and ensure you get paid for your sales).

We’ll summarise some of the major themes and news reports that concern the system in our blog posts, and use our knowledge of Arabic to use first-hand Egyptian source in Arabic. We’re also attempting a large project, which is to display or write something about each of Egypt’s 732 stations and halts. It might take a few years but we’re not sure how long. Any information or especially photographs of smaller stations will be gratefully received and full credit given of course.

If you have questions they might be answered in our FAQ or just drop us a line and ask. Thanks again for your support.
